No stress holiday tips for girlfriend brunch with #MyCANVAS and @CanadianTire

I’m like a lot of people who love Christmas. It is easy to get overwhelmed with entertaining, shopping, cleaning, cooking, and living. You get the picture. For me the most important thing about the holidays is spending time with people I love.

But, you can still entertaining without sacrificing the holiday spirit!

I am hosting a few of my favorite girl friends for brunch. We are a fun, caring, busy group of ladies. And we all cherish the opportunity to get together to catch up, share stories, and have a few laughs.

So, when I had the chance to check out the CANVAS Christmas collection at Canadian Tire, I was excited to find so many beautiful things to help me get ready for the holidays, and for stress free entertaining.

Here are my big tips for keeping it stress-free and fun.

Keep the menu simple.

Since we are early in the season, I’m going for a granola, fruit, and muffin theme. This way everyone can enjoy some delicious food, but not feel guilty about indulging. More importantly, this is almost a zero-preparation menu. You can purchase everything and just put it out.  I love this CANVAS Modern Decanter.  I’ve put juice in for brunch, but this will be an amazing vessel for my red wine!!

Break the rules

I’ve never been a rule follower, so I like to set the table according to me, not Miss Manners.

This beautiful CANVAS Skyler Stoneware Dinnerware  set is so versatile.

The pretty beading on the rim gives it a rich look that can easily adapt to a more formal setting. I’m excited to be hosting my dinner parties using these!

Re-purpose things.

I love to set a pretty table, and because I don’t have a ton of storage, I love to use things for multiple purposes.

For serving the granola, I used this CANVAS Footed Cylinder Glass Vase. It has a modern look that provides the eclectic feeling I try to convey. And I will be using this again for arranging flowers, but also can totally see this filled with bright holiday candies (I love candies).

I also was planning to use this  CANVAS 3-Tier Stand and Slate Platter for a cocktail party to display cheeses – you can write with chalk on these – such a nice little feature.  But then I thought about using them for my brunch! I  filled the stand with fruits and muffins.

The slate platter is the perfect setting for my Granola bar.  I’m serving the granola with hemp and sesame seeds, a great protein source to keep my girls going over the holidays!

Decorations aren’t just for the tree.

How cute are these napkin ring holders? They are CANVAS Holiday collection tree ornaments, but add a really lovely rustic touch to my brunch table. I know these will make it back on to the tree soon. Or maybe I’ll find another place for them.

Accessorize

It’s the little touches that make guest smile and feel special.

Look at these CANVAS Metallic Décor Birds.  I couldn’t resist. They just add a bit of whimsy, something that doesn’t overwhelm the casual nature of the table, but just the right touch.

Party favours.

Pomegranates are my favourite Christmas fruit. I love them, everyone should love them. Everyone gets to take one home. I am aware of people who don’t’ eat these and I’m on a mission to convert them. Plus they add a nice pop of colour.
