Easy Christmas window decorating ideas

My mother thinks all windows should have curtains. But some windows just don’t’ suit them. My dining room windows are original lead glass, and while they have simple traditional lines, they are clear glass. This is good, because they let in sunshine. Not good, because they don’t block the view of my neighbour’s house.

My solution is to dress the windows. For Christmas, I sometime put potted poinsettias, or candles. This year, I chose these CANVAS Decorative DIY Wreaths  They are hung with a pretty red ribbon to give them a festive feel, and tie into the reds in the wreath. I like the texture of the natural bark and grapevine, and the snow makes them look wintery. And using the same pattern for each window mimics the symmetry of the window panes.

This took me 15 minutes to do. You could use different coloured ribbon to change the feel. I was thinking of using silver, but wanted to bring in some more red to the room. This does this perfectly! The wreaths are very lightweight, so I used thumb tacs to put them up.

It is the perfect addition to my holiday theme.  I’m loving this idea.  What are your shortcuts to dressing your windows this holiday season?
