Find your Zen – International Yoga Day

If you’ve been thinking about starting a yoga class, why not start now? Yesterday, June 21, was International Yoga Day. Not only does June 21 mark the first day of summer, but according to yogic lore, the first transmission of yoga began on this day.

This year was the first official International Day of Yoga. Last December, the United Nations officially declared June 21 as the International Day of Yoga, and had 177 of the 193 countries co-sponsoring this day – the highest number of countries to ever co-sponsor a day.

Yoga is a great exercise to help build strength and flexibility. It can be done by anyone, at any age. It’s a great way to take a break from the busy, rush-rush of daily life, and just take a moment for yourself.

Whether you’re a seasoned yogi, or a beginner, whether it’s in your home, or at a yoga studio, find your Zen and take inspiration from International Yoga Day.
